As-Sadiq Foundation Charity Walk

About the Charity Walk

November 12, 2005 marked another milestone in As-Sadiq Islamic School's history when more than 250 children, parents and community members walked to raise funds for the As-sadiq Islamic School's Foundation Fund. Alhamdulillah, with the blessings of Allah, we were able to raise approximately C$90,000.

This was the first charity walk in the history of the School. The guided charity walk was organized under the leadership of Br. Aunali Moledina and Br. Hasnain Kara. In a span of just five short weeks, members of the community came forward and lent their hand to help organize this wonderful event.

Participants enjoyed the walk on a nice sunny day and learned about the history and heritage of Richmond Hill under the special guidance of George Duncan, an expert on the history of Richmond Hill. Special guests included, Chief Armand Lebarge, Chief of Police-York Region and Mr. David Cohen, Councillor-Town of Richmond Hill.

Special thanks go to our corporate, professional and individual sponsors and donors. An event like this would only be possible to organize with a team effort. Special thanks are due to all the Board Members, Jaffari Volunteers Corp., ISIJ, Principal and Staff of As-Sadiq, parents, children and all the community members who came out to make history and supported a very noble cause!

Understanding the Need for Foundation Fund

Alhamdulillah, As-Sadiq Islamic School is in its twelfth year of operation. With 185 students enrolled, we are only 24 students away from achieving the break-even point. The Board of Trustees is ready for long-term planning, based on the confidence of an assured financial position.

As-Sadiq School is a unique community resource dedicated to creating our future leaders by delivering on its promise of a Superlative Education with an Islamic Perspective. Outstanding Provincial test results, meritorious university performance by our students, and awards received all attest to the academic excellence of our school. Our students have sound religious knowledge. They are proud to be Muslims.

Benefits to Community

As-Sadiq is a key to resolving our societal concerns because it provides excellent secular education accompanied by a strong religious training – Islamic values and Akhlaq. It is home to children of many different backgrounds, and therefore provides a bond between the Shia-wide communities that goes beyond our most optimistic expectations.

Benefits to Sponsor

Donors have the priviledge of, Inshallah, being blessed with the benefits of Sawab-e-Jaria for educating our children in the Deen of Islam. We were also blessed with the vision of our Ayatullah Sistani who gave a Khums Ijaza years ago to ISIJ of Toronto, for the 9000 Bathurst project. This Ijaza also covers our valuable educational institution. The Islamic and Arabic components are also reviewed and upgraded under the Supervision of our Resident Aalim and Trustee, Sayyid Muhammad Rizvi.

We invite you too to join this most noble cause. Your donation will shape the community for generations to come by helping to provide a pertinent foundation for our children.

Why a Foundation Fund?

The vast majority of our schools worldwide use the income generated from their Foundation Funds to finance their operations. This provides schools with stability without the need to compete with other charitable causes for donations. Thus, it is extremely important to start a Foundation Fund for As-Sadiq Islamic School, as it would guarantee the continual operation and future development.

The vision of the board and its founding members has always been to start a secondary school from grade nine to twelve. With a strong Foundation Fund in place, this vision would be within sight. It will also produce quality, well-rounded students, whose good achievements will increase enrollment. The success of our school and its students are keys to continuously improving and strengthening our community.
